Awhile ago I posted about my awful performance on my Final Exam in MA 511. I was greeted with a multitude of negative "quit pitying yourself" comments the next day. I got my exam results and class grade back recently, and I guess you were right.Even though I felt that I did horrible, thinking I was going to get a 'D' or worse, I ended up with a 'B' in the class. I know a 'B' in graduate school is the equivalent of a 'C' in an undergrad course but a 'D' means it is time to pack it up and join the circus. I am quite happy with the mark of a 'B' and will continue on in my blissful ignorant existence of a part time graduate student.
I was right to say that I did horrible on my final exam though, because I did. I scored a 106/200, while the class average was a 124/200. I scored below average, but I am also not getting my Master's in Math (who this course is designed for), so I guess it is okay.
F.Y.I. : The chart at the top of the page shows the inflation of grades over the years of a number of Universities. Notice, Purdue is at the lower right hand side of the chart. This means that Purdue does not inflate its grades like other schools, so not everyone gets the warm fuzzies of a "good" mark. I think that is good, because not everyone can be an astronaut when they grow up.

He has officially fried himself!! I guess too many "coil guns" tesla coils, and flux capacitors have finnally taken their toll. We will have a memorial outside the house on Friday. Over the scorch mark in the yard that marks the spot... :-(
"I have decided... That I need to get back on the stick and start posting regularly again."
